    Wanted: 1994-1995 E34 530i V8 5 Speed Manual

I am looking for one 530i from 94 or 95 on the cheap. Manual transmissions sought, no automatics whatsoever. I need it for a V8 swap into my E30. All cars will be considered regardless of color, or overall shape so long as the transmission is in good working order and the thing can start and crawl onto a trailer. If you have a failed head gasket or low compression and want the whole car gone, now is your chance! Thanks guys.

Yes, I'm willing to go out of my way to get the car, that is to say, I've already made trips to Ohio, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Long Island, New Jersey, and even Virginia to get parts for this project so reasonable distances or day/ day-and-a-half trips are not out of the question. Thanks.

Please PM or email me (lutherkb (A/T) gmail.com)

Thanks but that's a bit rich for my blood and for what I'm looking for. This is something I want to tear apart and then use for a V8 swap.

You are looking for something that others on the forum are looking as well, you should look on CL, Ebay, Paper or just source a tranny alone ..?

Jean, I need the brake booster setup, considered going boosterless but that was cost prohibitive and still required some custom fabbing. I also need a transmission, and a wire harness with ECU. With all of that in mind, I decided I'd go for the whole thing and offer parts I don't need to the 5er crowd then crush the remainder. And yes I'm looking on CL, eBay and everywhere between here and Germany.

You will need to fab with the e34 brake setup as well, you know that right? I don't believe you want to use a 530i dme though, you usually want the 404 out of 540. The 530i harness isn't ideal either, but you probably know that too.

I guess I am trying to say, if you are going after a donor car, then go for the 540i? vs 530?

I guess this is the trouble I've had, lots of conflicting or erroneous information between r3v, e30tech, bimmerforums, and e30zone. I wanted the 530 simply for the ODB 1 harness and 5 speed transmission with the expectation that the 5 speed needs to be drilled for the CPS at the bell-housing. And yes I am aware that there is custom fab work to do for the booster option. The difference between that and the Garagistic's pedal mount is that I have very clear instructions for the E34 booster setup and don't need to source three master cylinders or deal with brake bias (Front/rear) so in a sense the booster option is easier and proven. I started looking for ODB1 options to get away from EWS 3 because while the forums claim it can be deleted, no one seems to have an answer to who can do it. I'm not expecting anyone to come up with answers but between what I've read and what we're discussing now it's become a bit more "cloudy."

At the end of the day I have an M62B44 that I will NOT be converting into the Franken-motor M60B44. While Standalone ECU would have it's own learning curve, my line of work is in automation so I don't think I would have too much difficulty figuring it out with time and persistence but when it comes to the mechanical side, I wanted to work alongside proven ideas.

why not do the M60B44? You are throwing away potential horsepower there.

                        Well, it's up to you.

Tried and true methods as you've seen are :

                        1) stock m60b40 using 6speed
                        2) m60b40 using 5speed
                        3) using e32/e34 brake booster config
                        4) using boosterless config
                        5) m62b44 turned into obd1

You could use 530i harness with a little bit of work, same with using auto harness. But it's not the "ideal" harness, if you were looking for a donor. that is all.

                          Jean,

                          Thanks.

I've got the M62B44 on my engine hoist. It came with a 740i harness (automatic, 284 DME). the 284 is EWS 3 and must go (MonkeyMadness learned this lesson as well the hard way just as I am now)

I'm doing my best to opt for 3 (using e32/e34 brake booster config) and 5) m62b44 turned into obd1 and what I'll call 6) M62B44 with 5 speed (drilled for rear mounted crank position sensor)

The sticking point for me is how do I turn this M62B44 into ODB1. As far as I can tell, I need an ODB 1 harness so it must be a pre 96 car, right? And with that I also lose EWS which is a win in my book.

Does any of that make sense?

m62B44 (non vanos, duh and relocated CPS), 94 (non EWS) 530i/5-speed engine harness, e34 530i 5-speed transmission, 404 DME with a custom tune. BAM.
