Hi,
Looking to sell my 1985 535i Schwartz European market sedan. Massive amount of paperwork on car. Has been in TN for many moons. Rescued this car from a 7 year hibernation and have been slowly working life back into it since. Lots of refurbishing and OEM/OE parts have been installed from fluid, to gaskets, to bolts/clips, etc. Car runs and drives well but needs additional work. Great project for someone to carry on. Factory no A/C, manual windows, Mtech sport wheel with Recaro cloth seats and cloth door cards. Originally came with metric Mtech wheels (no longer on car but spare remains) but comes with E39 style 29 wheels. No toolkit left sadly. Confirmed in registry, very original condition well driven well maintained over the years car until it was stored away after it would not start for the PO. Replacement 129k mile engine by Akin Bimmerwerks in mid 2000's. Chassis estimated around 290k~.
Good Highlights:
-New water pump (OE), thermostat (OEM), coolant flush and fill with BMW blue
-Rebuilt injectors, new fuel filter (OEM), some new hoses
-New distributor cap and rotor, new plugs (OEM)
-New fan clutch (OE)
-New valve cover gaskets (Victor Reinz)
-Fluid service in diff (Castrol), trans fluid service (Pentosin), oil change and filter (Castrol Synthetic w/ Mann filter)
-New air filter (OEM)
-New battery (Duralast)
-New ignition switch (OEM)
-New windshield wipers (OEM Bosch)
-Massive amount of documentation and money spent in previous years locally
-Functional central locking system (although tumbler needs replacing on driver side)
-Solid body and paint, very little to no rust found (all has been surface rust. NO rot found). Has had pretty good respray in the past, recently cut/buffed back to a nice shine. Minor dings and dents you'd expect from 290k~ miles
-Runs/drives fairly well. Gently massaged back into a driver.
Bad Highlights:
-Has period correct performance exhaust but needs to be looked at and welded up. Some leaks that are robbing performance. Notably a leak in the downpipe near the header I can hear.
-Dent in passenger side rocker panel.
-Factory Recaro cloth sport seats are brittle and ripped in common areas from age
-Factory Mtech steering wheel needs re-wrap. Baked from sun over time.
-Radio does not work
-Brake lights do not work
-Tires are old but hold air and have tons of tread. Age is the issue for long term use, should be replaced
-Shifter bushings loosey goosey
-Sway bar end links cracked, suspension not as tight as it once was although decent. PO replaced many items before the long sleep
-Doors need re-aligned and adjusted
-Alternator needs to be rebuilt
-Needs new rubber exhaust hangers
-Dash cracked but has dash mat
-Needs diff bushings
-Triangle and first aid kit did not come with car
-No toolkit
