    e34 shimmy under braking...

So im new to the e34 world here, previous owner of a e30 touring and still a e30m42 as my daily. I just picked up a 1994 530i touring with a M60 swap and 6speed tranny. Wagon life is good, however i have yet to learn the ins and outs of the e34 front end and the steering system. I understand there are thrust arms and a steering box as opposed to the typical rack and pinion.

I have a shimmy while under 30% braking, but not under hard braking. hmmm?
rotor warp is kinda eliminated as i dont get it under hard braking, but maybe the trust arms?

chime in if you have an idea because i need some e34 schooling...
    thanks.

    and here she is...

first rule out rotors 100 percent. If ruled out, it is most likely upper control arms. If you replace them, I'd do the lowers at the same time and make sure you use Meyle HD or Lemfoerder unless you want to do them again in 10k miles. Also, I highly suggest upgrading to polyurethane bushings, insted of the OEM rubber ones. Spherical bushings like mooseheads would be even better.

Yep. Rotors. Upper and Lower control arms.
Also, center link, drag link and tie rods.

Pretty much a MUST on e34 front suspension, along with upper strut mounts and sway bar links.

Avoid crap parts like FCP, their arms/bushings DO NOT LAST!

        Sick wagon, gratz!

Honestly, make sure the wheels are balanced, or its probably thrust arms like they said

Also, the lemfoerder or moose engineering are the best investment ways to go

I am buying OEM Lemf and Meyle HD parts tomorrow to REDO all the GARBAGE FCP control arms this weekend.

When the OEM bushing fails, I'll put AKG bushings in :)

I am not kidding, FCP arms did not last even 6 months ...and these were "with the upgraded e32 750il bushings"...Of course FCP would not reply to my question on where the bushings came from, not OEM i am sure.

I had the same problem and bought a brake kit but replaced everything else before doing the brakes...

Still had the problem until I put the new rotors/pads on and I rebuilt the calipers. My front right was sticking pretty bad but not sure if that was the problem or one of the rotors. You will be surprised what kinda goop comes out of the calipers! ;)

Yep... I don't have a problem sharing my honest experience, nobody should have to go through this bs.

Good thing is they offered to take these 6month old arms back and give me store credit.

I am not that pissed off , because I honestly felt that these would not last, how can a $99 4pc control arm kit LAST if a single one of these OEM arms lists for about $170?!

So if anything I was willing to take the risk and prove that they DO NOT LAST :)

DO NOT BUY MADE IN CHINA GARBAGE PARTS.
