    E28 heater blower

I wonder if you E28 veterans might have some advice for me?

Over the last few months my blower worked fine. There was a tendency when I would first start the car, after sitting overnight or an hour or two, for the car to run about 10 seconds then the blower would run on high for about a second then stop. It would do this "run for second" routine no matter if the fan selector switch was in the lowest position or any in between.

Did the same routine on the frosty morning the day before New Years, except this time halfway to my destination the blower quit. Hasn't revived since. Before I go digging around in the dash and blower neighborhoods, has anyone had this happen to them? Under similar circumstances?

This is an 88 535is, just in case that makes a difference. I'll be checking the usual suspects, fuses and switches etc. Just wanted some direction once I get past those.

    Blower motor resistor possibly?

It wasn't growley or squealy before it quit was it?

Nope. No noises or smells. Worked beautiful, just had the quirky run for a second deal. Then "no more magic".

Checked the fuse #14 everything OK. Went in the cabin to check the switches. Tried fussing with the AC select switch, noticed it would only light for a brief moment when pushing it in, thus sending power to the AC blower in the console. No magic there.

I happened to have a spare one laying around and replaced it. I have all blower speeds now! Curiously it still has the "run on high for a second" situation...
