    525 Transmission won't shift.

Hey guys I have a 94 BMW 525 with an automatic transmission. I bought it with a bad Trans. I bought a rebuilt unit put it in and it would not shift. Sent it back and received another unit and it has the same problem so I don't think it's a problem with unit itself. So basically the car drives in first but won't shift and then goes into Trans Program limp mode and stays in third. Any idea on what it may be? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

That's interesting. I never thought of that. I will check the switch but if the computer is incorrect how do I remedy this problem? Also where is the kick down switch located?

Kick down is under the pedal.
If the tcu is wrong, get another tcu. 94-95 used a different variant of the 4l30e.

Ok thanks for the info. I will look into the TCU this weekend. So in 94-95 there where a few variants of the 4L30E and they had different TCUs? How do I know which one matches?

91-93 was one version of the trans, 94-95 different one.
Had a gear ratio change and the electronics, were different inside the trans also.

Check with your supplier as to which version you got.
