    E38 16x8 Style 5 on e34??

Picked up a 95 525i to replace my e28 and was wanting to swap these wheels over to my new car. As far as I can tell, they seem to fit the hub, but there's some minor rubbing on the strut tube. They cleared on the e28.

So I guess what I'm asking is should I run spacers or look for new tires? With the latter, does anyone have a recommendation or known brand/size that will problem. If I choose spacers, I'm assuming 5mm will work. These should be hub centric to reduce vibration and with extended lug bolts. Correct?

Thanks! I can't believe the difference in this car versus my old 528e!!! Astounding!

I've got them temporarily mounted, perfect look for this car in my opinion! As much as i hate to, looks like I'm going with spacers and bolts up front. 3mm should do the trick, but I'll run 5mm to be safe. This is a 225/50/16 Kuhmo Ecsta AST by the way.

i believe e28 tire size are smaller so it should clear the housing.

225.50.16 is the proper tire size for the E28.

What is wrong with running a spacer OP? Most all BMW venders sell high quality spacers that do not cause shimmy's... this isn't a chevy.

I was wondering if anyone knew what size/brand of tires might work? And I've always been sketchy on spacers, always preferred original fitment. Think I'm just using the wrong kind of spacer right now (5 lug universal flat 5mm) and stock lug bolts.

Going to invest in a decent set from Turner I think. I'm still weary that the fronts new offset might be an eyesore for me too.

              Or VAC

              Or Bimmerworld

Or from Ryan here on the forums.

Personally, I have a set of 20mm spacers from VAC... I have a 1/2 dozen spacers in different thicknesses from many different companies and the VAC ones are many many times nicer in machining than the others. This includes the T.U.V. approved H&R 15mm spacers that I have.

If your run 5mm, I'd suggest a hub extender. I think Turner sells a nice one.

Thanks a ton for the info! I appreciate all the help. The VAC parts do look very good bNice cars in the signature too by the way, I've had all the same 3 chassis types albeit on a (much) more budget-friendly level. Even spent some time in Germany. I'll do some shopping around for the parts I need...

Any thoughts on running spacers only on the fronts vs all 4 corners?? Is it just personal preference??

Run a 5mm spacer with extended bolts that is 72.56 hub centric. Running them just up front won't be an issue either.

I have daily driven my e28 on 16" style 5's with 20mm spacers for almost 2 years. Never had a problem.

Tire size that would be proper to meet factory specs would be a 225/55R16 but a 225/50 won't hurt anything.

When i had the RZ 469 on the e34 It had 225/50/16 kUMHO atx or wtf they call them, No rubbing.

I threw on some Bridgestone RE760's i Had rubbing when you would lock the wheel.

When we bought the car it had style 9 16X7.5 with some 225/55/16 xalto sports.
