Hey, so Im having issues with my hood on my e28. The hood shuts and locks down, however when I pull the release it does not release all the way. Also when driving the car, the hood will release, not completely, catching on the hooked release lever underneath. The hood just doesn't seem to sit right. My feeling is that it originally opened from the back and the previous owner changed out the set up as there are fairly new hinges on both sides. Has anyone had this problem before or have any thoughts on how to make this work before i try and buy a different hood? thanks

Those are new hood shocks,But those are the correct location. The E28 opens from the Front. What you need to do is FIRST buy a New Hood release.
The issue why its notlining up is two reasons, (1) The release from the kick pannel needs to be adjusted,This can be done with the two 8mm bolts near the releases on the front of the car, Before you do this. Remove the grilles because if you mess up,You will have to brake the grilles to get it open. The second may be the hood was removed and not put on correctly.

The latch in the first picture... Is there rust causing a break and a weird angle on where it mounts?
Also in the hinge picture is it properly alligned? Looks like hinges were replaced, mounted to the same place? Seen quite a few e28s with hinge issues they often go bad as well.sigpic

Its a difficult to explain procedure but loosen the 2 8mm nuts holding the cable and pull it tight from the handle towards the pass side and cinch them down. make sure the handle inside is pushed to the closed position before doing this. and then lube everything up like youre going in for the first time
