Do I need to pull off head to fix broken rocker arm?

I'm not a 100% on this because I have not done it myself but I beleave you have to remove the head to slide the cam out of the head.

If you broke a rocker itd be wise to take the head off to examine any other damage that could have occurred.

You don't slide the cam out, you slide the rocker shaft out. Cam stays in place.

Which rocker is it? If it is one of the ones near the firewall, you can probably do it as the shaft only needs to slide out a few inches. If it's toward the front, then it is less likely. You will have to remove the radiator and condenser to make room and at that point, it's almost easier to just pull the head.

I would pull the head... It's much easier to get the rocker out, plus you can examine for any cracks or anything else. (P.S. There is no such thing as a VANOs M30 :P)
