Issue Changing Brake Fluid on 89 - 325

    Hello,

Trying to change the brake fluid and started trying using a MityVac on the right rear caliper 15-20 psi vacuum. I got just a few dribbles of fluid then nothing but a little hissing. Then we tried the old fashioned way pumping up the system using the pedal and got nothing.

Moved on to the other three calipers using the brake pedal method and they bled out just fine and I got new fluid draining from all three of those.

Thinking perhaps the right rear issue it might be related to the parking brake being on but releasing it just got a little lurch of the car but no change in the lack of bleeding.

Snaked out the (right rear) bleeder with a pipe cleaner and it was not gummed up. Pulled the bleeder out and fluid didn't flow out of the caliper but again snaking in a pipe cleaner and it came our damp. Also tried the brake pedal method again without the bleeder but the hose in the fitting opening and still no fluid flow.

There's no indication that the brakes were malfunctioning.

    What could be the problem?

The hand brake is purely mechanical, no relation to the service brakes.

I bet that one of the soft lines upstream of that caliper is bad. Verify by removing the line from the caliper (take the caliper off to get the line off, but break the fitting free with the caliper installed) and work upstream until you find the clog.

There is also a chance that the ABS pump is full of gunk.

If he's getting fluid at the left rear then he's good to the T fitting over the axle. While you could have a collapsed soft line to that wheel my money is on a gummed up caliper. Refresh them in pairs as a minimum although I'd do all 4 and the rubber hoses if it were mine since the conditions that gummed up one are also impacting the rest of the system.
