Hi everyone. I am replacing my Power Steering Return Hose that goes from the Steering Rack to the Reservoir (Hose part number: 32411133401).
My car is a 1989 325 Automatic, Convertible. The Auto Transmission has a couple of Metal Pipes that go from the Transmission to the Cooler by the Radiator and back.
So, there is very little space to work.
I have been trying to reinstall the Hose but for hours I have tried to get the Banjo Bolt (22 mm wrench size) to at least start in the Rack thread with no success. I am getting very frustrated and my hand does not fit there. The fact that you need to have two Crusher Washers , one on each side to the Line, does not help, but that is not the main problem. The problem is to start the Banjo Bolt into the Rack thread. I am thinking I need to do something differently. Has anyone managed to do this?
I really don't want to remove the Transmission Cooler Lines Tubes, I've recently replaced the Transmission Oil and Filter and cannot believe I need to do that.
Do I need to remove the other Steering Hose Banjo (the one located right above the one I cannot reinstall? See how that Banjo Bolt runs super close to the Transmission Cooler Pipes, so reinstalling it later might be even worse.
See pictures: there is a Hose connected to the Rack and then below that you can see the threads where the larger Banjo Bolt is supposed to connect.
