    2002 Engine Bay

Just curious. Anyone know the size differences between the e30 and 2002 engine bays? Either dimensions or pictures would be great. Thanks

About 6" shorter. Perhaps the same width.

M20 swap requires to cut the front rad core to move the rad forward.
M50 swap requires the same as above as well as cutting the firewall.

          S14 swap is possible too.

Thanks for the responses. Anyone have a pic of the bare engine bay? I'm curious if certain things like the steering column or brake booster usually get in the way of swaps.

Right now i'm looking to pick up a project car this summer and i'm thinking about a Datsun 510 or a 2002 and wanted to see what kind of options i had for more power ie an engine swap.

I googled "bmw 2002 engine bay" and got tons of pictures. Me think you are a lazy SOB and that if you can't find pictures, you won't probably event start your swap...

The kiddo is wasting our time by pretending he wants to do a swap in a 2002 and cannot even find pictures of an engine bay. So, what's the next question? What direction to turn a bolt for screwing-in?

                          that explains it.

it just bothers me because some of us, although the answer can be found elsewhere, look to find opinions of other forum members with experience. sure we dont know much or have enough money now, but eventually he might. i was in the same situation, asking about my 3L turbo m52 build, and now i'm almost done. lee said it would never happen. to be honest he lost a potential customer.

Wow Lee. Seriously whats up with those last posts? I was actually thinking you were being quite helpful until now.

You don't know me so don't act like it. I'm no kiddo, so don't call me one.

I found some pics of the engine bay on google but not much in the way of high res or quality pics showing more than just a straight on shot. Also I asked more than for just pictures, don't forget that.

I come to this forum because for the most part there are many people that are willing to help when someone has a question or problem that needs to be solved. These last posts talking about how I was wasting the forums time are just ridiculous. I am not wasting anyone's time. If you feel like I have a stupid question and it is not worth your time then YOU don't have to waste your time posting.

And you imply, that because I ask for something pretty specific that most likely will not be readily available elsewhere, that I will need to ask for directions screwing in a bolt. Well just to let you know you will not have to worry about that. I have re-built the head on my car, replaced the front sub-frame, fabbed up exhaust sections, replaced the rotors, pads, lines and done many more things on my car. All of that was done without your help.

That sums it up pretty good.

                              Chill out.

Why not do a built m10? IMO anything other than an m10 or s14 doesn't belong in a 2002. A turbo m10 can put out 400+ hp.
