Lee is probably right anyways. We're talking about a motor swap on a 2002 the guy doesn't even have yet. PO - just wait until you get the car to have a look at it. You'll probably have to dump money into suspension and rust repair first anyways so lets talk motor swap when you have a roadworthy car. Excercise your "no help needed" brake installing capabilities until you're out of money and then we'll talk.

it just bothers me because some of us, although the answer can be found elsewhere, look to find opinions of other forum members with experience. sure we dont know much or have enough money now, but eventually he might. i was in the same situation, asking about my 3L turbo m52 build, and now i'm almost done. lee said it would never happen. to be honest he lost a potential customer.
So, lifeisakaos, now I get it. Your past antagonism is due to the fact that I didn't applaud or cheer you up with your own little project... And if I remember your project was, well... Yous said you reached completion, but I am not persuaded it is according to your original plans. And about loosing a customer... what can I say? You are not the first, nor the last.
But if you change your mind and want the best e30 brakes...
You can buy an already S14 swapped 2002 with paint, interior, and suspension done very nicely for $15K to $25K depending on bells, whistles, and condition. An excellent deal compared to cooking one up yourself. I'm sure you already know this site, but:

Good luck with your swap. If I could afford a 2002, well then, I'd ummm - yeah.
Well there goes half my day looking through that site. Thanks for posting that up, I'd never seen that site before.
Its looking like a turbo m10 might be the best option for me. The s14 swaps look badass but the long term matinence costs and the lower availability of replacement parts are pushing me toward the m10 turbo. It seems like for 3 grand or so you could build up a pretty healthy and reliable turbo m10 pushing out maybe a few hundred horsepower.
I think an f20c swap would be pretty cool too. High revs, good power and reliablilty, would feel somewhat s14 like, being well balanced and light weight. But something just doesn't feel right about putting a Honda engine into a BMW...
heres a few without the motor in. not sure this helps. just do an s14 and be done with it. its a total blast even with a stock 2.3. ill be doing a 2.5 as soon as i can afford it though .. heres one before a a couple after shots
