How do you guys align trunk model badges?

i'm getting ready to slap on my 318is badge and it will bug the ever living crap out of me if i do it incorrectly. would love some (ideally) measurements from the trunk edges, or at least some pointers that are better than simply eyeballing it from a series of jpegs.

for the e36, there are some realoem measurements but i can't seem to find some for the e30 318is.

    thanks in advance!

thanks so much, although this doesn't indicate how far the trailing edge cap is for the "s", which i believe extends beyond where the "x" in "ix" is...

Do "D" to the edge from the end of the s, and "B" between trailing and leading edges of the two badges. If it were to be even 2mm off it would not be even slightly noticeable.
