so that's why my u-pull-its don't have kets in the cars : /
but yeah some people will take what they want, locked or not...junkyard or not..
i had to get e-brake cables one time at a junkyard and the rear rotor wouln't come off. i grabbed some camshaft that was laying next to the car and in hammering one against the other broke it AND the rotor to access the clip for the e-brake...mwahaha
No more e30s for me.

dont worry, im all the way on the left coast. i wont tell anyone else. LOL
locking the car isn't going to deter someone at all.
theyll just take a couple steps back and throw a rock through the window and open the door.

Yeah I would do it!! Try having a motor sold out from under you after a week and a half of uninstalling it very nicely and well organized!! I worked on it each day because I would leave work 4:25 get to the yard at 4:30, work 30 min and they close at 5:00 on the dot!! I had one motor mount holding everything in just needed one more day and it was gone!! Yeah thats right an empty bay I was so pissed I threw a cylinder head straight through the back window then beat the quater panel on a decent audi for good measure with a muffler prob would have done more if I wasn't asked to leave by the stupid conman, scrap yard drug lord M.F.!!! AHHH it still pisses me off!! Guard your prized parts car while clenching your hads chanting "my precious, my precious".
hey I did what I could and its better than leaving it wide open....I pretty sure though, the windows wont be broken though. Plus those windows are pretty strong....either someone is going to be detered by not being able to break the window or if they choose to try to break it they'll cut up themselves.. By the way its an mb2025 has a clean dashboard, euro fog lights, cluster with 128k, clean center and shift console, clean tan sport interior, 13 button obc, and other goodies, I left in the locked trunk for good measure....amongst other things in perfect condition...

I've gone as far as stripping the parts and hiding them somewhere else in the yard where they would be safe. I was fixing up a shelby daytona when I was younger and found one with everything I needed for the interior, digital clocks, obc, factory boost guage, pristine t-tops, steering wheel, little interior trim pieces, etc.....but I knew I was lacking the funds to get it all that day. So I pulled it all and hid that shit in the back of the yard in the ford section where no one wanting mopar parts would begin to look, purchased some other stuff including the set of original cs 16" star wheels off the car and hoped my plan would work...I believe the map I left in my tool box was left at an upside down econoline van...straight to the mercury topaz with no hood and smashed roof.....in the spare tire well of bashed tempo 3 cars over...I locked the trunk and took the keys. It was still there a couple weeks later...even tho the donor car was fairly gutted in the mean time which sucked. I really wanted the seats out of it too, but they were gone :(.....it sucked being 18, going to school full time, making minimum wage, and getting paid bi-weekly.....so I don't blame you at all for your effort. Hope it's all still waiting for you when you go back.
BUT THIS!!!!! http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=194272
locking the doors DOES have a greater advantage of keeping pokers out of the car. But if I, for example, came along and found a locked e30 with goods inside, better believe it would be open instantaneously.
Is it wrong to lock the door? hell no. Would my wife side with yours? sigh... yes.
If i find something that can be easily removed and i dont have the money for at that time, I will relocate it to an unrelated vehicle to be picked up later.
And I think i've made a thread about it before, 5-finger nuts, screws, plugs, buttons, sensors, etc
i suppose youd say i have no morals... at least i dont randomly destroy parts in the yards.
