What shift knob came with my car?

Does anyone know what the original shift knob was on my 1988 325i Convertible?
I recently took out the crap ebay short shifter the previous owner installed and put a stock shift lever in. Now I'd like to get the OEM shift knob. Is it this one? https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...b/25111220823/

Probably not that one, but I am not certain of a way to know. My best guess would be that the knob would match the material of the steering wheel that came with the car. That probably means a leather sport wheel in your case and a leather wrapped conforming shift knob.

What you linked is more something the e21/e12 would have came with. I have one similar but in wood that I used for a while.

I recall the '80s cars with plastic shifters to look like

And the leather ones to look like

This looks like the one I have in the car now, so maybe I do have the stock knob. I'm surprised, it looks kind of generic.

The stock e30 ones are pretty generic, that's why many of us run m-tech ones etc to liven up the interior a little bit. The one you posted is the really early one, basically the same as the e21.
