I'd say it looks normal; no milky film from condensation or thick chocolate milkshake mess from a headgasket issue. Does it have any hint of a fuel smell? What is your specific concern?

On my monitor, it looks like green coolant.

      But that's just an observation.

To help you with your question, you should make the subject "substance on oil filler cap?"
      or something along those lines.

We were all new at this at some point so don't sweat it. A bit of fuel smell is probably just the normal smell used oil gets after some time in the engine. As to the color, I do see a slight hue, however the lighting might be exaggerating the normal color of the oil.

If you want solid peace of mind, go to https://www.blackstone-labs.com and order up an oil sample kit and at your next oil change take a sample and send it in for analysis. No better way to judge the health of the engine without opening it up.

Is the car new to you? If you’re not sure what oil is in it, the greenish tinge (if that’s not just the photo) could be liquimoly molygen oil that has dye in it to make it easier to spot leaks? Not sure if other oil manufacturers have taken on that idea as I run nothing that exotic in the e30. I just get Penrite synthetic when it’s on special, which is just the normal brown colour like Dino oil.
