I only have about 9 songs in .aac format (got them from the itunes/pepsi promotion). the rest of my music is all in Mp3.. you can probably use itunes to convert them if you wish, but that would be stupid because the ipod plays Mp3 files too.
looks like you can download it for free, but do you have to pay for the full version or anythhing?

no, you don't have to pay, unless you download stuff from the itunes store.. which is pretty tempting sometimes, but I they don't have as many different artists as I'd like.
I actually use Winamp 2.666 (a devilishly good version) when I run Windows, XMMS when I don't. I rip out the old Deliplayer for some good old chip tunes now and then, Amiga emulated yeah!

Why thank you, it hasn't failed me yet. I have converted 3 businesses, 11 servers, and 2 girlfriends :) I use debian for all my consulting contracts when replacing windows file/print/backup servers, and smoothwall for firewalling duties. ssh is your friend!
