    Clutch Fork Return Spring (critical?)

Just finished a G260 swap into a 1990 325i and noticed this spring had come off in the process: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/clu...ip-21511204327

I fished it out of the bellhousing, but can't put it back without removing the transmission again.

I have a DeLorean with a very similar fork system and it does not have a retaining spring on the fork at all, but the pivot point is in the center of the fork.

What happens if I run this without the spring holding the fork against the pivot?

wears the TOB out. pedal might engage lower. might have to rev match on some shifts.
