    So I sold the TI . . . .

I just got off the phone with the buyer of my 318ti Club Sport. I didn't get the price I wanted, but a financial agreement was made. Now I'm feeling somewhat regretful :(

    So long E36, hello E30 318is 8)

The TI was definately a fun car, but the E30 seems to have potential to be more of a driver's car, it's lighter, and I think it has more potential as a dual purpose track/street car. It just needs some work so that I can feel more connected to the road, like a good steering rack and shocks.

Still though, the 318TI had a unique charm to it. It seems more unique than the iS. But then again, I've only had the 318iS for a month.

What year was the Ti? I've always liked those cars.....to me I find them quite unique. The hatchback concept may not be everyone's cup-o-tea but its really practical. I know they've got the same rear underpinnings as the E30 so the two must have pretty similar handling traits.

It was a '95 Red Club Sport.

The rear end was complete E30. Doing some measurements though, the wheel base of the TI was 6 inches longer than the E30 (TI has the same wheelbase as the E36). The front suspension geometry is also slightly different too.

The hatch back concept killed the car in the US from the start, but because of the the fold down rear seats, you could haul bigger stuff in the TI than you could in any other E36.

The TI was a blast on the track. What it lacked in power it easily made up for in cornering speed. The M42 sat farther back in the engine bay than the iS, which helped a bit in the weight distribution (which was still had a front bias). I thought of the car as more of a 5 lug, longer wheelbase, slightly more luxurious (read: heavier) E30 which everyone thought looked like an E36 M3 after a rear end collision ;)
