    Craigslist

I have seen some killer ads on craigslist.org recently, for those of you in the SF area - someone is selling an m50 for $500, and there is a shitload of 3.0s, 2002s, 1602s, bavarias, some with engine swaps, a couple of 325is cars, etc. For folks not local, I could go pick something up if needed. I wish hadn't just made such a big c.card payment...

That guy selling E36 parts is a scammer. He ripped off half of Bimmerforums and has a really bad rep, kinda like a Lowendesign.

Yeah, he supposedly had an S52 out of a 97 M3 with 60,000 miles for $1500, a set of 17" M Double Spoke wheels for $200, etc. Think his name is europartstrader or something like that. But there are a lot of other people selling cheap stuff, most of them are probably legitimate. I sell stuff there all the time...I sold a pair of SLK230 taillights for $20 and they go for $165 each at the dealer.

Craigslist in the Bay Area is great for quick sales, but the problem is people who want too much of a deal. I've had people lowball me like crazy and/or play games. I sold a bookcase a few weeks ago for $50 firm. The guy picked it up and loaded it into his car, then gave me $40. I told him it was $50, which was a steal of a price already, then he said he only had 2 twenties or 1 hundred and I didn't have any change. I was about to unload the bookcase and take it back inside, but I didn't want to deal with it anymore so I took his money and told him to have sex with himself when he got home.

It's always fun to encourage others to go fornicate with themselves.

i have actually dealt with those guys selling e36 parts....they are based outa the city, and i followed them to their "shop" which looked more like a chop-shop. i bought some e36 window switched offa them, and they ripped my off, but i didnt wanna haggle with them b/c we were in the middle of nowhere at nite in a bad neighborhood and their thugs were all over the place strippin down BMW's...scary shit, i shouldnt have gone by myself.

That is the same fucker that tried to rip me off. I paid him for the parts and then he told me the he could no longer sell me the stuff for $30 shipped. He wanted $100 plus shipping (more than twice the money the stealer wanted). After many threats of filing a claim with paypal, I got my money back.

              Fucking pricks.

Seeing you know the address, why doesn't someone report it to the authorities? :?

Oh yeah, despite the scammer, Craigslist does have some good deals. Just exercise caution.

Okay, it's not a chop-shop per say where some dude rolls up in a Cadillac with a smashed window and a screwdriver in the ignition and gets a couple of bills for it, but the whole place is just really ghetto. And I seriously doubt SFPD will do much about it.

I bought my 86 es off craigslist for under $2k, it was an ok deal. Right now I am going to use it to sell my GF's honda rebel 250, and a couple of Sun Sparcstation 20's I have lying around.
I have had good experiences buy off CL too, I have bought a bed, a couple computers, some furniture, and random other stuff. All in all, it's pretty good when you can meet the seller in person and decide about whether or not to buy based on actually inspecting the merchandise.
