In 91, BMW NA officially started badging all 2 door models with an "S". We saw this with the 91 318iS and the E36 325iS. Perhaps this was already the case in Germany. This would explain why it states "325iS - 2" on the manufacturer's sticker but not the BMW NA sticker. This would be my best guest.
