Does this look like a stock EPROM? I have a no 02 sensor car so I’m reluctant to stick a standard ETA chip for a North American car in my DME. My DME has a name written on it so maybe it’s been opened before.
Chip ID? Early euro ETA

Yes, that's a stock chip. Since it's not soldered in, it shouldn't be a problem using a performance ETA chip."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj

O2 sensor is for closed loop control and that's managed by the DME. The DME makes slight adjustments to the map that's on the chip based on feedback from the sensor. On models with a fuel quality switch, you can even manually add or subtract ignition and fuel by percentage but the chip stores the base maps. Euro emissions standards and fuel are different than in the US. I would imagine they have a more aggressive map but it's a 325e that made pretty much the same power (except for the high compression piston version) so the difference is probably minimal."I'd probably take the E30 M3 in this case just because I love that little car, and how tanky that inline 6 is." - thecj
