Pls help me understand the wiring symbol

Currently, the rear windows on my E30 sedan do not operate with the switches. I have proved that both work with voltage from another source. On the diagram below, power come from the Circuit Breaker through "S322" to the Safety Switch which enables/disables the rear windows. Though there is power at the breaker, there is no power at the safety switch. I am trying to locate why, but I do not know what the "S322" junction is. My gratitude for any guidance.

That is a splice, in the ETM anything labeled S followed by a number will be a splice. You can also look up the location of said splice in the location area in the ETM.

I suspect something is going on with your window lockout switch or corroded/ broken pins in the door jam plug.

      +1-
if you dig into the wiring harness, you'll find a biggish crimp with heat shrink over it.
But those are 'usually' pretty darned reliable. I'd be all voltmeter all over it before I
even got out the razor blade to open the harness.

I want to thank you who responded. The reason for the post in the first place is that I asked a person in whose opinions I trust told me that "S" stood for switch. As I continued to research, I found elsewhere on the site an explanation of how to read the ECM, and I learned that "S" means splice..

There was actually NO problem. I learned that in order for the rear window to operate, BOTH the console switch AND the door switch must be installed.
