Looks like a street-bound variant of the Gruppe B rally car that Audi used during the 1980s and pretty much kicked everyone's ass in the process. In race trim that car is insane. I'm sure the street car takes a more subtle approach but that doesn't mean its a slouch.
In a way, that car shares a similar path as the E30 M3. Factory built race car to take on the best (in this case Rally racing) and win it all. The fact that its only 1 of 164 ever built for the street (and only 1 of 10 registered in the US) makes it an extremely rare car and thus justifying a price that's well into 5 figures.
Its a piece of Audi history.....and I like it :D

Buddy already owns a UrQ, cut the roof and shorten it and add the Audi 4000 windscreen and you have a sport Q. Dyanlynk has been building them for some time as well as Dahlenbach. They are cool.
My local VW Audi dealership has a very low numbered one and the 200q transam and 80q transam cars in there dealer show room as well as an R8. They sponser the media cars for the Nurburgring.
Yeah, they are awesome. I've been into Group B cars for a long time and the Sport Quattro's been my favorite. Besides, I need to keep up with my friend; he owns a mint Renault R5 Turbo II!
Those UrQ sports are faster than 928's 0-60, I think 350hp. Sick cars but buy a URq and chip it with a new turbo and you have the sport for 70k less.
However, UrQ's are hard to find in even decent condition. Besides, there was only about one year's worth of cars that weren't plagued with problems. I believe it was '84 or '85 that are the most rare because they run the best all of the time. The other ones had bad electrical problems and such...
Also, why wouldn't I just go for the Sport Quattro when its handling is THAT much better than the UrQ. Shortening the wheelbase, etc. all for the sake of making it more like a Sport Quattro doesn't make it a Sport Quattro.
If I got a UrQ though, I'd keep it stock because to me it would be more of a collectors car than something to want to show off with added performance
I'm not denying that the Sport quattro is a fine automobile, just think it is over priced and I would want a car I can drive not wipe with a diaper. Urq's are not that hard to find in nice shape : http://www.karquattro.com/cardetail.asp?carid=17
That quattro sport is sick I would buy one before the 928 that's for sure.
I guess 85k isn't that bad weren't they over 50k new in 1984.
