Besides the fact that they weren't offered in North America, probably just that there's a demand for them now because the look is cleaner without sidemarkers.

so they used to be cheap? they probably cost about $10 to manufacture all 5 pieces

it's only plastic, your talking way less than that once the molds are made, problem is that when the dollar went down the tubes last year, the euro went way up so BMW basically doubled all their prices to make up for it...

Now the euro is still worth more than the dollar but not 2 -1 like it was but BMW would never lower the price again no matter how weak the euro gets or how strong the dollar gets...

          it called profit...

This. Euro trim kicks ass, so much cleaner than with side markers. I'm glad I got on that group buy while it was still on.

              thread revival...

I'm interested in getting a pair of these but I just want input from CA members who have them. Any trouble with inspection and the law?

I worry more about not having a front license plate. The deleted sidemarkers are pretty much a non-issue.

Nobody is going to notice that the sidemarkers are missing...go for it

I think after I move away from here I'll keep my car registered in AL. Its really nice to be able to not worry about that shit at all.

I just smoked mine with Lamin-x. I've been very pleased with it, and the only reason I bothered keeping lights in the marker housings is because if you look at an e30 in profile with the lights on, you can't see the car at all. It just became a saftey thing for me. In a perfect world, I'd install euro fender repeaters, but I don't much want to cut into my fenders...

I think the whole safety issue is BS. If someone's headed to hit your car, I don't think a little amber reflector is going to make a whole lot of a difference.

I did not wire mine in when I switched to ellips, and then took my old worst ones( so no big loss) and painted them black
really prefer the looks, but ultimately ( lottery) I would get the euro kit
