    Production Date Question

I'm have a little trouble ordering parts for the car I just got. The production date in the door says 9/87. which should mean mean cars produced after august are the next model year( 1988 )but some of the details of the car makes me think its an 87. The metal bumper in the rear for one as well as some of the parts have 87 stamped on them. Should I go by the production date in the door?

if you have these tail lights

then you got yourself an 88. If not, it's an 87.

9.87 should be 88 model, as my 7.86 is an 87.

It has the bumpers that were used from '84 to '87 with shorter bumper shocks, but I'd say that assuming the car is an '88 is a safe bet.

My vert is 11/87, with early tails, did verts not get the late tails till it was actually '88 or something?

if your tachometer looks like this, you have the 325 "supereta" from model-year 1988.

If your redline is lower, you have a 1984-1987 325/e.

that doesn't help, it could be an "i" in 87 or 88

look at the sticker on the driver's side shock tower, it will say
                        1989 cirrisblau-metallic 325i

all you had to do was ask...

the car is an 88 seta. i told you i put the 89 325i bumper on the front with the valence but couldn't get the rear bumper off the 89 to put on the 88.

                          hope this solves things.
