    Sunroof missalignment.

I have a problem with the sunroof tracks. While one side is in the full up position in tilt mode, the other side is about half inch lower. I looked at the tracks and pretty much one is doing its function a lot sooner than the other. What can I do?

I'll need to get some form of pictures tomorrow.

sounds kinda like it needs to be cleaned .. or if the sides have separate motors then posibly one going out.

I don't think its a cleaning issue. I gave it some aggressive nudges with me hands and it seems to be literally stuck as is(the lagger wont catch up to the correct timing) . I don't remember exactly how the sunroof works but isn't there a couple of cables of some sort around it? Perhaps they are out of wack.

I've read that and all it says is vaguely, "The Bentley manual talks about placing 4mm hex wrenches thru holes in the guide rail to slide thru and engage the tilt track on both sides, thereby keeping the sunroof sliding mechanism held solidly together during the adjustment process."

I'm looking for some conformation :)

ah its fresh but its still needs a drastic cut and buff to go with it. That, and I need to put all the windows back into it. My room mates took up the whole fucking driveway so I have no space really to work with either.

So pretty much lets say thats the full up right position for that plastic piece. On the other side, it would only be, if any, half that position/halfway up.

any takers? Should I some how just try and wind/unwind (to the point where it sounds like its breaking) with the crank hoping it will realign?

Do you really think it will just align itself by you forcing it?

Do it and post pics, we'll sit back and do the laughing.

do you really think being a dirty ass douche going to get you anywhere?

There are reasons why I'm asking these questions before doing the mentioned actions. Get the fuck out of r3v.

Sounds like one of your cables might have slipped a couple of teeth or something. I forget how I did it and can't find the pic right now but you can get 2 hex wrench in the right place to lock the panel for adjustment. If yours is out of shape like mine was you need to remove the motor to allow the cables to move independently, meaning you have to pull down the headliner peice covering the motor. Be sure when you put the motor back in that it is in the correct position by counting the number of turns when you hit the switch.

Sorry this isn't too detailed I don't have my Bentley in front of me and did this over a year ago. But I used the DYI posted above and the Bentley to get mine straightened out.

thanks for that. I don't remember seeing anything that I would call a motor in there, but i didn't really have access to my car in the last couple of days, so could you shed a little more light on where it's located? (for a crank sunroof is it a big piece?)
