    patching my ragtop

    anyone have a 3x4 inch patch of clothtop material or know where I can get some? Last upholstery shop I went to told me to just replace my whole top. :roll:

              take it to a a good upholstery shop, they'll have a scrap piece that they can sew and glue over the hole. Every time my top had been slashed this is what they did until the new top arrived... Keep in mind you won't be able to put the top down, but it will keep you dry.

                I sewed mine worked fine for 2 years until thieves went through the freaking rear window!

                  I had torn mine (from regular wear and tear, but nothing that required a piece that big to fill a hole. Mine was just a tear. I used heavy black cloth I picked up at the fabric store. I then used Marine Goop and spread some on the patch and some on the INSIDE of the top, let both sides dry a little (you use it like contact cement) then stuck them together. The patch (and the other worn spots I also fixed that way) lasted me almost 2 years until I finally tore my rear window and had to replace my top.

                      OK, went to the fabric store and got some vinyl fabric for cheap and some glue. Gonna see how it holds up.
