Pretty sure the under hood lining rubs on it.

Yeah, its from the liner for the hood rubbing. Not really an issue i dont think.

Hey Ben, Glad to hear you got a badass little E30! Cal is a great guy. Josh used mine as an auto-x car for a while before he sold it to me. When I get back, we have to meet up. The car looks amazing in the pictures too! Your toolkit's full by the way.

By the way, an S50/2 swap will just put you in SM class. It's on my to-do list, but since the M20 lasts forever (3-400k or so with good maintenance), yours shouldn't shit the bucket anytime soon.

Good to hear about the motor and tools... We do have to meet up :)
I wanna autox i think in STX for a while, maybe get another e30 down the road that has a blown motor that would be prime for an s52 swap.

That's a good plan. I run mine in DSP against Garrett just for kicks but it's actually prepped more for STX. If you have the LSD, you will be in STX or higher regardless. Best of Luck!

Yeah, I'll probably stick to STX for SCCA, but dunno about bmwcca. Garret said they're pretty lax on classing as long as its not TOO crazy.

Yea. Go to rmcbmwcca.org and use the auto-x classing tool. It's much more lax. Basically, if I took an 84 318 and swapped in the M5 V10 or something obscene, and tick all the boxes, I'm still in CS class competing with Garrett. Start with a 325i and it's a much different story.
