Things you can do but shouldn't

I just did urethane trailing arm bushings.

I did not remove the subframe.

I did not remove the exhaust.

The car was on a lift. I had all of the proper tools, including the bushing press.

I only pulled the brake lines and the trailing arms.

Do NOT do this job this way, pull the damn subframe.

Fuck. I dumped about half a tank of gas, as I had to remove the filler tube to get one of the bolts out. Major PITA, not recommended, ever.

However, what a HUGE difference in the feel of the car! DAMN, it is smoother, corners SO much better...if you have 20 years on your trailing arm bushings, get off your ass and do them.

I have been having a kinda weird vibration on acceleration, like around 2500 RPM, first and second gear. Vibration: GONE. So happy, hooray!

cool beans luke, whose bushings did you use? I'm about to drop subframe of one of my cars and do adjusters with e39 bolts and poly bushings.

If the idiot PO hadn't done the whole "its cheaper to weld the exhaust" bullshit, and if the car had decent exhaust studs, I would have at least pulled the exhaust.

All I can tell you about the bushings is that they are red...

Nice, it felt great getting trailing arm/subframe bushings out of the way so I know who you feel!

Andy and I (well I guess just Andy) removed my subframe and while out replaced all my bushings. RTAB came out way too easy to be doing much good while they were in the car. I am stoked to drive mine again and feel teh difference.

Thanks for making this thread, Luke. That's all I needed, was another reminder about how shot my (probably) 20+ year old rear trailing and subframe bushings are.

I started at 4:30, was greasy as hell while Matt and Francis were sucking down Coronas...in the office, NOT out in the shop, giving me shit and helping.

BTW, R3V, the reason I don't know what kind of bushings these are is this guys (^) fault...he gave them to me, but cannot remember what they are.
