    i'm off to check a 325es tomorrow

So i'm meeting a guy halfway tomorrow to check out our cars.

it's a 325es, so he says. It's kinda something i've wanted for a while, a black coupe. i'm sure the cardinal interior goes with the car nicely. Now, to my understanding a 's' car has a different steering wheel, a lsd rear with a higer ratio, stiffer shocks and springs a special front valence, and a trunklid spoiler. is there anything else to an es car that stands it out form a normal e?

    i read through this:

    and this:

    and this:

is there any other checklist that i don't know about?
if it has rust i'm just gonna walk away,

One thing that is unique about the es is that it does not have a guibo. The rear output shaft on the transmission is different than on other years and apparently did not work too well as BMW went back to using the guibo on the next years is. I could tell you how I know this but it is a long and costly story! This motor is really torquey but I really reccommend chipping the ECU. It makes the car much more tollerable in the HP department!
The difference between porcupines and BMWs is that porcupines have the pricks on the outside!

The es I have came with beige houndstooth interior and sport seats. it also had a power sunroof but not sure if that was an option or part of the es package. it was an 86 and now has a 92 i motor and 5spd.

My 86 es has an mtech I wheel, not sure if it was standard es equipment or not, it was installed when I aquired the car. Also, my es does have a guibo. I was once told es's come with basket weaves too. Other than that it's everything said so far, front air dam, rear spoiler, lsd 2.93 rear end and I am sure a chip would work wonders....the tourque is nice...but it is lacking in the hp dept. I'm building a 2.7i with plans of a supercharger..

325eS, 2.93LSD, S suspension, front air dam, rear trunk spoiler, sport seats, M tech steering wheel, black side mirrors, and bottlecaps. I've never seen a factory eS car with body colored mirrors or basketweaves like on the iS. The 86-87 cars did have a guibo, although it may have been covered by a vibration dampener. Unfortunately, that car like many others, is missing the front air dam.

I am here to tell you that some of the 325es did not have a guibo. I went the rounds with BMW over this and they finally admitted that some of the es models had a different tranny output shaft and bolted directly to the driveline. When I had my tranny rebuilt I had to swap in a different shaft and buy a new driveline just so it would be the same as all the other years and have a guibo. I can not imagine that I had the only one with this setup!

That's interesting but the only eS' I've seen without a guibo are the automatics and I've seen A LOT. I know my 85 used a smaller flange and guibo while later 86-87 on use a larger flange and guibo but never seen one without a guibo at all. Are you sure there wasn't a vibration dampener around your guibo?

Mine had in addition to the above, a Map light rear view mirror, Premium Sound, 13 button OBC and a Power Sunroof.

                        It also had a Guibo.

I added a set of Basketweaves and a 3.73 LSD to mine:
