I spotted this e30 on Craigslist in October 2007 and I made an offer and had a deal. Obtaining the title became too much of a headache and I decided to walk away and picked up an e34 touring instead. The owner sent me an email about a year ago to see if I was still interested in the car but I still decided to pass. I have finally had the time to work on my e30 again and on a whim I sent an email off to the owner a couple of weeks ago. I found out that it was sitting at a local auto repair shop collecting dust. I made an offer to the owner and it now sits in my garage.
I called BMW NA and they passed me over to the dealer that sold and serviced the car in WA. The dealer confirmed that the mtech2 appearance package was original.
This e30 is far from perfect. The water pump wasn’t looked after and the engine was replaced… supposedly with a 58K donor… and supposedly the owner gave the car to his teenage son who then proceeded to smoke the ECU jumping the car. The engine doesn't run and will need an ECU at a minimum. It was terribly repainted, the AC doesn’t work, and the auto top is shot.
The good news... mtech2 bits… very solid interior… and maybe a good m20.
I am planning to transfer over the mtech2 bits to complete my 91ic. I have been after my 91 e30ic from the ground up, rebuilt m20, 5 speed conversion, Bilstein Sports / H&R, and then some... I just have the interior and body to finish.
I got lucky for sure and now I can't wait to have my e30 back on the road.
