    2 Imported E30 M3 Convertibles

have just been imported from Germany by someone who i know. I spoke to him today for about half an hour, and he has personally invited me to come see these cars in person when they clear customs, which is supposed to be on Tuesday, November 25th. I saw ACTUAL pictures on his digicam that he took today, so i know it is for real. From what i saw, these cars look CRAZY CRAZY CRAZY. One of the cabrio's apparently has 9 or 10 inch deep dish Borbets (hard to see on a small digi-cam screen), and is totally modified. He knows how much i love e30's, and he said that he would give me first dibs to buy either one of the cars.

I will post lots of pics of these beauties, just as soon as they arrive. I know they probably aren't "real" m3 convertibles, but the guy said i probably wouldn't be able to tell! Apparently they are in immaculate/showroom condition.

I will keep everyone updated, and as soon as the cars are released from customs and at the shop.....i will immediately be there to take tons of pictures, and yes, take BOTH of the cars for a spin as promised!!!

Please keep us posted about the M3's, or psudeo M3's... :D

I am surprised that someone would go the distance to create a copy of an M3. I can see how it would be done here, since no cabrio E30 M3 were officially imported, but in Europe...

Best thing is to check the drivers door sill and see what the stickers say. I have seen 2 of the E30 M3 cabrios at the Sig Fest in NJ and they looked pretty cool, although it hardly has the same handeling capability as a regular M3. I could never understand why they would make a Cabrio M3 in either model - 30, 36, 46.

One word, "status" Not everyone buys an M3 for the performance.

You know, I would think most people buy sports cars to have fun. A convertible can be very, very fun--more so than a coupe, with sacrifice of structural rigidity and some weight. I think most of us agree that the real reason they love their E30s is that they're a fucking blast to drive. I mean, sure, 195hp is good performance-wise, but the real reason you like that is so it'll push you back in your seat more. Having no roof is fun too, and for me I actually feel more of a conneciton with the road when the top's down. But to every man his own.

                I'd get an M3 convertible.

...although not an E46, I'll take that in coupe.

To me, it's ALL about being unique. I have seen 1 (fake) e30 m3 convertible, but it was poorly done, and i only know of a couple of others in North America. Pics will come next week!!

how much do m's go for in europe? also, what is it like registering the car in the US?

im not that concerned with verts, i'd def get one, but i'd rock a regular m3 too

i just ask because it seems like the e30s are cheaper in germany.

a friend of mine is a mechanic for a rally team, and the guy he works for does international shipping, and said he'd hook him up

I agree, being different is a big part of it. It's just that after I drove an E30 cabrio, I realized what structural rigidity (or rather the lack of it) feels like. Maybe the M3 cabrio is stronger in that department. But it is a great looking car - no doubt! Bring the pics!
By the way, how do i post pics here?

there have been 2 true e30M3 cabrios imported to the US and 1 to Canada. There are three built up M3 cabrios that I know of.

I love the M3 and really love my cabrio, so is there anything wrong in wanting the best of both worlds??? They look better than any body kit or e30 with silly 18 inch wheels.

Just to let everybody know, only one of the cars is an m3 convertible, the other is just a regular cabrio with apparently HUGE deep dish wheels. I haven't had time to go by this week and check them out, but tomorrow i will be going. I will post a thread WITH pics.
