RIAA is insane, can't believe a jury awarded this much money to a business.

He better have appeal ability. That's crap. Bone all the people that stole music from tribesmen.
EDIT: She...sorry
Every day I wake up we drink a lot of coffee and watch the CNN
Every day I wake up to a bowl of clover honey and let the locusts fly in.
Lobsterbacks attack the town again
Wrap all my things in aluminum
Beams of darkness streak across the sky
Pink rays from the ancient satellite
Every time I look out my window same three dogs looking back at me.
Every time I open my windows cranes fly in to terrorize me.Comment

It's always seemed odd to me that you could go steal 2 CD's from a store, get caught, and get fined what maybe $200 bucks for it, but if you download 24 songs you get fined 1.92 million dollars somehow.. She should have just used the Chewbaca defense tbh..Comment

How pathetic is the RIAA, 1.92 million? How crazy are the dumbfuck jurors that actually determined the reward and sentence!!!Comment

You mean 80K, right? :)1.92 million or 80G a song for music downloading 24 songs
I have a couple of problems with this situation. First of all, she was tried twice for the same crime. I always thought that if the judge made a mistake or if something went wrong in court, it would result in a mistrial. Secondly, where did they get that jury? I find it hard to believe that nobody in that jury has ever violated the copyright laws. I also find it hard to believe that anyone on that jury thought that she had $80,000 much less the $2 million in disposable income.
So how does resolve this? Does she file bankruptcy or is she subject to wage garnishments for the rest of her life?Comment

It's just scare tactics, I really don't think she'll end up paying much, if any at all. It makes people think "damn that could be me" instead of "there are 5000000 other people DLing more music than me, they'll get caught first".

Old case here. Has been going on for a couple years now.
this is the ONLY case that has gone to trial: she could not find the $3500 to settle out of court, before the stupid waffleswaffleswaffleswaffles demanded a trial.
The first time (this WAS the appeal case) her fine was only $220,000
Maybe she can start a pron site for stupid ugly old broke twats.
Then others can steal her property and she can sue them!Comment
