If they just made it affordable, then I'm sure people wouldn't download music anymore. IMO .99 cents a song or $9.99 on itunes is a rip off. why should i pay that much for music when almost all of the music that is produced is three keystrokes in protools and then beyonce or fergie or jay-z or souja boy or anyone of those rappers/main stream artists wailing nonsense over a microphone, out of tune. To me that doesn't merit millions of dollars worth of "musical achievement, artistry, or genius."

People who actually had enough talent to create actual music, not just harmonic garbage did it for mere fractions of what we pay now, or in some cases for no monitary compensation at all. They did it just for the love of music.

One thing that Madonna said back in the 80's was that the industry is changing from one that is talent based to one that is marketing based and it's the marketing that will sell records.

I really thought that she was wrong about that.

Well, then don't buy any music then. It's as simple as that. If nobody bought that crap, then it would stop being made. The honest truth is that there are a lot of people out there buying that crap so it keeps getting made. Yeah, the marketing hype has a lot to do with it. It just proves that people are stupid though.

Making music for the love of doing it is the only way to get good music, but they are entertaining us and should be compensated for their efforts. They should be able to make enough to make a decent living out of it.

Luke made all the important points about this trial. There is one more point though: she had thousands of songs up on her share. They only tried to prosecute her for just 24 of them. It was a way to simplify things and it was stuff that they were physically able to download. I suspect that at the time the charges were brought, they figured 24 was enough to get her to pay the $3500 buy out and she would quit doing it so they never bothered to verify all the thousands of other songs she had out there.

This is copyrighted stuff after all. Sharing it is illegal.

this is the ONLY case that has gone to trial: she could not find the $3500 to settle out of court, before the stupid waffleswaffleswaffleswaffles demanded a trial.

The first time (this WAS the appeal case) her fine was only $220,000

Maybe she can start a pron site for stupid ugly old broke twats.

Then others can steal her property and she can sue them!
They claimed she downloaded Swedish Death Metal, dude. This lawsuit is bullshit and inane.

This thread is funny. You can tell who steals music just by reading all the posts.
