    Muffler over heating the trunk!

In the old 86 325esa the trunk is reaching extreme high temps, if you touch above the muffler you will burn your self... it is almost melting the trunk carpet.

Now it was 106 today but still, the muffler is letting off too much heat.

The heat shield is there but I am thinking I will have to either wrap the muffler or the heat shield or the body above the muffler?

Or does the muffler just need to go?

Any and all advice is appreciated!

Is the trunk tar still there? I knew that shit served a purpose (despite its weight.)

oh ya the trunk tar is still there, the original paint on the trunk tar is sticking to the trunk carpet it is that hot.

I wish I had a laser temp tool it might have been 200+

Your muffler is clogged, just find a new one.

there should be a heat shield above the muffler underneath the trunk steel

What is it clogged with? It has excellent acceleration and not a speck of carbon on the tail pipe...

I guess what I am asking is has anyone ever had to heat wrap to stop the trunk from overheating?

                            check your muffler bearings.
