this honda thing ppl keep mentioning isnt realy bashing, its good advice. cheap and reliable = sweet project e30.

but really, get yourself a motor and hit up the ppl that said they would help you... as long as u label all the connectors of the harness and have some help pulling an replacing it shouldnt take a while for your first swap.. you get an early model motor all you gotta do is swap water pumps to make it work in a late model car... possibly throttle body and thermostat housing.. literally 3 bolts on the water pump... 4 on the TB, and 2 on the thermostat housing...

if you did no other maintenance while you were in there... youd be in an out for under 500...

      Update

Just a little update for any of you that were following my story....

I successfully drove that rustbucket 86es from July until last week, with nothing but an oil change and a battery for maintenance, with no issues. God that thing is a trooper

Got the iX on the road last Monday. All it need was a steering rack leak fix (thanks to rede30 for pulling one from his parts car and sending it to me). Total cost to fix ~$250. After that, it needed some new tires (the ones on it had plenty of tread, but were cracking BAD).

$500 later for a set of beefy 205/55 ContiExtremeContacts and an alignment, she was good to go. Got her registered, and brought her up to school with me where she will be my DD until spring. It has a few small issues, mostly little electrical things, but overall a vast improvement over the eS. You can really feel the difference between the RWD and the 4WD, and it feels good :D

I'm getting 30 hours a week of work this semester, so I will be saving up to fix the cabrio come nice weather time. Depending on how much I make, I will either build a stroker from the eS motor (and swap in the 5-speed), find a used m20 and put that it, or... wait for it.... s5x

So, as my sig says, I hope to have the cabrio running for summer, the iX for winter and rainy days, and the eS for a parts car.

Oh, I almost forgot. My friends roommate is also selling me his 89iS/5 for $600. Car is in great shape, just needs a radiator and some hoses. He doesn't wanna deal with fixing it up cuz he wants to get a subaru (he skiis so hes constantly in snow).

So thats where I'm at. Thanks again for all the advice back in July, but I'm glad I made the decision that I did :p
