So i've been trying to resolve a steering problem that i've been having lately. Whenever I turn the steering wheel I get this loud rubbing noise inside of the steering column. In this area to be precise:
URL cuz image won't show ^^^^^
The rubbing noise sounds like it's between items 9 and 19. Along with the rubbing noise is sticky steering that goes in and out. 5% of the time it will be completely fine with not a sound and other times it will just squeal, rub, and pop like mad. I have a hard time believing a faulty pump would cause this as the sound is coming from inside the cabin. I can't hear anything with the windows rolled down and my head out the window, no sound from the pump itself it seems.
Could it be possible a bearing or bushing wore out and is causing the friction that is preventing my steering wheel to turn like on butter?
Has anyone else experienced something similar?
Any help would be great.
