i went to sears auto center, they said r12 isnt legal anymore to recharge.

actually its not legal to produce and import R-12 anymore. use of it is still permitted, but not very many shops have the equipment or the refrigerant to charge an R-12 system anymore.

That's the vespa shop's address, if you are standing outside of it, one building to the left, there is a AC guy. Can't remember his name or the shop name

Yea there's this guy that's right next to Mossimo's vespa shop. It's on Superior Ave. He completely rebuilt my AC to perfection and it blows ICE cold now. Go to him. He'll do it right.

How much did it cost ya? I might need to do something similar.

I've gone to a few places but they don't have the adapter needed on the modern machines? Did they have to add an adapter to yours?

I have a set of r12 gauges, vacuum pump, and some cans of r12 I bought off of ebay so I am able to do my own a/c work. However, my BMW dealer still has r12 as of a couple of years ago and will still service r12 systems. So, you might give your local dealer a call.

All vacuum pumps can work on both r-12 and r-134a systems and there is a refrigerant named HotShot[made by a company called ICOR] that is compatible with both R-12 and R-134a oil. Somebody should give it a try. That is the refrigerant I use to work on refrigeration systems.
