i went to sears auto center, they said r12 isnt legal anymore to recharge.

I have a set of r12 gauges, vacuum pump, and some cans of r12 I bought off of ebay so I am able to do my own a/c work. However, my BMW dealer still has r12 as of a couple of years ago and will still service r12 systems. So, you might give your local dealer a call.Eric Giles

All vacuum pumps can work on both r-12 and r-134a systems and there is a refrigerant named HotShot[made by a company called ICOR] that is compatible with both R-12 and R-134a oil. Somebody should give it a try. That is the refrigerant I use to work on refrigeration systems.Comment
