Are there any aftermarket hoods that open like "normal" cars?

Put it this way, I've seen a lot of E30s in my days, seen a lot of interesting and/or wierd mods too. Never have seen a hood rehinged to the back.

Make a kit to sell and you'll be a trend setter. It will be the next big E30 mod.

imo, changing the hood hinges totaly fucks the car out of all the BMW originality it has left... It's bad enough it lost its big bavarian heart to some china tech. (even tho I love what you're doing with that shit. bad ass build)

but as far as hinging goes, I think pins in the front and disconnecting the front mount is the only way.

Dude, you're putting a JDM fanboi's dream into an E30. If you want the hood to hinge from the back so badly, figure out a way to hinge it from the back. My guess: not quite as hard as an RB swap.

But for the record, you are officially gay for wanting this. No one has made a conversion kit because no one else is annoyed by it and no one else thinks it's a bad design.

Simplest way to do this would be fixed hinges on the rear with a gas damper set-up, right? Doesn't change the fact that it is an arse-about way of fixing an issue that x4 good quality bonnet pins would fix.

Lightweight bonnet + no hinges = win.

e28 hinges may work. if you find ones at a yard, check the integrity of the hing, ive had two e28s with broken hinges [metal fatigue]

for the front latch, weld a hoop to lock into the stock hood latch. there will not be a safety latch, but im sure you could figure something.

Got N1 oil pump?

It's more of a crankshaft issue than an oil pump issue, but I have fixed that.

Also, I do have an N1 oil pump, but it's the same as stock with a higher relief.

Nismo, trust, tomei and jun all make upgraded pumps. My pump is good to over 600whp, so I'm not too worried about it. My turbo will only make about that. When I decide to get a GT40R, then I'll probably do a dry sump.
