What's this E30 M3 worth?

Myself, I would stay between $5-6k. No more, even with the low miles. There is a lot of work there even though he is providing the parts. I'd be worried with the parts missing from the engine and the car just sitting. I would have to strip it down and go through the engine with a fine tooth comb. That and the rust issues. The car has definitely been wrecked, maybe not totalled but it was in an accident. The rust alone could create huge problems that could get ugly fast. All said and done though, it would be a great car when it was reassembled and running. Good luck. Some people just need a sympathetic pat...

It looks like it will need a lot more rust repair than what we can see in the pic. If the rear is rusted like that, I'm gonna venture and say the floor boards are in rough shape as well. You're going to be spending a good 4-5k in repairs, paint and prep, engine rebuild, and new parts. I wouldn't offer anything over 4k for it.

together: maybe a few (call it 4) thousand
pieces: more than that depending on condition
the motor can be sold for a good bit if its decent (the head can anyway)
cluster is a couple hundred
fenders are probably close to 1k
suspension is over 1k
in the end you'll make more money on the parts than the car as a whole
edit: i didnt notice the full washer bottle... thats big money thereYour signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

So it seems the price can flex alot based on if the engine runs nicely or not, and if there is hidden rust or not.
And now i guess i will reveal that i am not a seller, but a potential buyer. So i am going to look at it next weekend, and will determine if there is more rust, and if the engine runs like the owner says it does.

How much is he/she asking for it? If you pass on it, I may be interested.Originally posted by BillBraskyE36's are the Stephen Baldwin of the 3 series family. They barely hold everything together and they only sold a lot because of the popularity of their older sibling.

Used S14 Core for rebuild - ~$2500
M3 Interior in decent condition - ~$1200
Now, it needs some rust repair. Big deal. The core support is getting replaced anyways, so you're doing paintwork no matter what.
I'd pay $5500-8500 for a car in that condition if the motor can be verified with under 100k miles.
You would be foolish to pay that much when non collision damaged examples sell for around 6k in similar condition with slightly higher mileage. It has rust and is not complete in the engine compartment. How long has it been sitting like that? Why are the belts off?
The 1500-2000 price idea is if it has a Bad motor and based on it's overall appearance. One good front fender and a bad motor is still a parts car or a race project........................
If the car has been left like this now....... How was it maintained before the collision? Were the valve adjustments done correctly? Water pump........etc. etc...
The question was not what the parts are worth on an M3, it was what is this M3 worth as a whole. You buy low to keep the parts you want and sell the rest to pay for it.

Also, you quoted mostly new prices....................
These are 21 year old parts with unknown history.
The motor sells for about $3500 in complete working condition regardless of what people think they are worth. S38B38, S50B32, S62 and S54 engines are the only ones selling above $5k in good used condition.

E30 M3s in Spain sell for 13k-22k euros. And they sell for those prices. Google the conversion rates for dollar to euro. Bad examples in need of a good deal of repairs....all with low miles sell for $7000 euros. The three M5s we've parted in the last year had under 100k Kilometers and they were trashed. Mileage means nothing.
I bought a M3 outside Houston 3 years ago with 118k for for $5800 off of Ebay. It needed a lot of work but was clear title without accident damage. Just poorly maintained.

The car from ebay, I talked with the owner that it sat in the garage. Appears the person who bought it from him did nothing to it except make a few buck off of it.
So basically boils down to do you want one and are you willing to spend or do the labor involved to bring it back to par?
You can say blah blah about prices but labor varies by region as do prices of materials and supplies. So are you wanting a M for this price?
