Good point. I hadn't heard of them either, but my friend had his car over on this side of the mountains, and after graduating he had to register it again back in seattle. The tabs were expired, and he had to get emissions testing done to get tabs. On the East side of WA we don't have any emissions required at all, so he had to buy a trip permit just to drive it back over there and have the test done.

I see. And yeah, I guess it really isn't so hard to get it legal. Too bad your state is so strict, you wouldn't have nearly as many problems here.

Since you clearly don't need it for street use, have you thought of just towing it to the track? Do you have a tow vehicle? If you do, it seems like you could buy a trailer instead of spending the money and time to get it smoggable.
Unless; of course, you were planning on getting in to the F&F street racing scene...
Yes, I could just tow it to the track, and I did buy a tow vehicle a few weeks ago and will be buying an enclosed trailer shortly...however, I'd like to be able to drive the car around town a bit, and to local meets, etc. Since it's not all THAT much work (relatively speaking) to get it smog-legal, I'd like to do it...
Also, San Diego BMWCCA autocrosses are about two miles from my warehouse (where I keep my cars), which is farther than I'd like to drive without registration, but too short to make trailering practical...so, I'd just as soon have it street legal for that short drive.

Yeah both were nice, Ben just restyled it slightly. Alpine's former car, well I don't like the current version of it but then again it's not my car.
