It is off of an 89 325i manual. I don't know exactly what all parts I should include with the kit. Can someone that has done the conversion tell me what all he will need?

excellent :D
Can you also check the tightness of the stalk (is that the same thing as the switch?) as i've been told these can go loose and floppy (never a good thing
) - my car has only done 57k so its all tight and 'new'
I think i need, stalk (switch?), wiring harness, control module and servo....
LHD bracket that holds the control module is no good to me apparently (only a few ££ from BMW tho)
I think thats all... Unless someone cares to add something i've missed..///M InsideComment

i'm removing it right now. Do you need the wires from the stalk all the way to the connector? The turn signal and washer is all connected to it.
Also, the stalk is pretty tight. It is better than the one on my daily car.sigpicComment

Yes he needs all the wires from the Stalk to the connector as this is part of the wiring loom, just trace it to the Steering colomn and you will see they are all stacked one on top of the other and the Cruse control unit is the top one its rather thin compaired to the rest, he will also need the clutch switch along with the actuator the green plug thats on the back of the Spedo dial and the loom that runs to the accessory socket and to the control unit and to the Actuator which it plugs into right before the rubber seporator where all the wires run out to the engne bay.Originally posted by trashcop 80s 80si'm removing it right now. Also Please dont just disconnect the earth from the plug but take the 10mm bolt off the earthing point and slide the brown wire off.

I got most of it off. I'll take the rest off sometime this weekend. So the actuator is the black box near the intake. Where is the silver control box?sigpicComment

There are two cruise control designs....the change was made for 9/87 production, or the 1988 model year.
Both style cruise controls will adjust speed with the lever. The only difference is that the early cruise doesn't have a "decel" function per se. In operation, to decel, you simply cancel, let the car coast down, and set the cruise again. I have to think when first going from the 318i (early style cruise) to the M3 (late style cruise), but after a few minutes, it's second nature. I have used both extensively, and I honestly don't prefer one over the other.
Here are the lever functions:
Early style cruise:
Set and accelerate = Forward
Cancel = Up or down
Resume = Back
Late style cruise:
Set and accelerate = Forward
Cancel = Down
Resume = Up
Decelerate = Back
I have a complete early cruise setup for sale. It fits a 325e or i. It includes the clutch switch, bracket, and all wiring. I will include the wiring diagram from the ETM.
On E30's, the control box is just left of the ECU, above the glove box.John
