in my past experience, CD's don't rip too good... so i prefer to crack them or cut 'em up with scissors or knifes... just watch out for the shards...Comment

w0rd. Seriously. Fuck that musicmatch winamp shit, they are mediocre players at best. There's a reason most mp3 groups use EAC+lame; it produces high quality mp3s. Unless all you do with your mp3s is listen to them on computer speakers, but on a good system you can hear the difference.Originally posted by nandoEAC + lame

Where can you get EAC + lame? I've got a Denon AVR-3000 paired with some Phase Technology PC-60s and a PC-50 and I'm eager to discern the difference between different ripping utilities.Originally posted by e30fiendw0rd. Exact Audio Copy is a so called audio grabber for CDs using standard CD and DVD-ROM drives. The main differences
oddly enough, it's german :)
haven't downloaded it in a while, but the last version I had camewith a lame plugin. otherwise, you can get that from www.doom9.org, you'll also find plenty of info for setting it up. I usually do 192vbr joint-stereo if I'm trying to save space, or straight 320 for quality. 192vbr sounds great though and takes the same space as 128. the .exe version of lame is faster than the .dll version, EAC will work with either.Comment

Exact Audio Copy as nando stated above. You can't get much better than it. It rips shit that can't normally be ripped.... assuming you have a good CD reader.Michael Spiegle
