    Opinion on 335d?

I'm told I need to obtain a new business vehicle. Cash for clunker program includes this vechle as a valid new car. The dodge truck we'd be trading in gives us the 4500 total. After everything is totaled up, I can walk out the door with the 335d for just under $40k.

Before my company drops a dime on this thing, what have you guys (that own/drive one) thought so far?

Apparently the touring isnt available in the states? wtf
edit: OH! touring is only available in 328i form. well crap

I love the 335i so I guess the diesel would be cool.

Do want a 335d or x5d for a DD for my self or the little woman. Have not driven one, but I cant think that they are piles of crap. Nearly 400Ft/lbs in a RWD car = fun no matter how you slice it, that coupled with 40+ mpg how can you go wrong???????????

they are touting it at 425 ft/lb and 36 hwy mpg... cars.gov reads the mpg at 27

The dealer said they would have one on Thursday for me to test drive.

From the reviews I've read/watched it looks like a pretty great car. Even if a 335i is a little bit more fun (no idea how people say that they compare) the mileage of the diesel would be a massive selling point for me.

Its the new eta with a 5k redline.
I love it I went for a test drive in one last weekend.

a 265-hp, 3.0-liter I-6 its a twin turbo also and it makes 425 pound feet of torque at 1,750 rpm's and pulls all the way to redline, which I think is crazy and the car is super smooth.

Yeah, 425lb-ft, imagine what you get with some more boost (chip it). Do it.

Going to go for the manual I hope?

Yeah, I get a boner at most BMW/Volkswagen/Audi diesel products, so I like the sound of the 335d. A boatload of torque, the fact that you can greatly increase that with software (or a software flash,) and the fact that you've got a warranty all makes it an excellent new car choice in my book. Hopefully, they'll eventually bring a 335i or 335d Touring to the States.

                  Good luck.

i drove an x5d at work a couple of weeks ago and loved it, and matter of fact, i was just talking today to a coworker today about how we would both rock a 335d any day of the week.

                      cliffs: do it!

They are nice, very quiet. Pull strong, a potential big win for BMW if they can just get people to open their minds about deisel in this country. Like tde30 said prob some real tunning potential.

Looking at all the 3-series prices, 335d is second most expensive, short of the cabby.
I could get a 328i base model for something like 28k while the equiv. 335d picked up in Munich is 39K. If BMW wants to sell more diesels, they need to do something about the cost, IMHO.

The other annoying factor is the stations that carry diesel. Sometimes its hard to find a diesel pump and half the time when you do, the pump is covered in dirt, oil, soot and/or the nozzle is so big, I've had a hard time getting it in pickup truck filler holes.

My friend had one as a loaner car several weeks ago, and we both couldn't believe how ridiculously fast it was, especially from like 30 - 80MPH. He was also averaging 30+MPG in 100 miles of mixed, hard driving. And wait to you'll hear the sound... it is easily the most mechanical sounding, hard edged motor BMW has in the entire line-up of non-M powered cars.

All in all a very impressive package that I wish I could afford right now.

Mileage will make up for initial cost over time, plus deisel engine will literaly run forever. If I was in the market for a new BMW it would be at the top of my list, just below a 135i
