The gall plate protects the surface of the flywheel but also helps distribute the load. It's a lot more critical on an aluminum flywheel than steel and would probably be okay if you left it out but... If you used stock bolts intended for use with the gall plate, they might be too long without the gall plate in place. Have you verified that the motor will rotate freely without the bolts hitting the rear main seal cover?
Doh, should I pull it back off?

Have not checked that, but will this evening. I'm curious how much thicker the 24v flywheel since the bolts for it are massively long (originally had the wrong parts sent to me).
I'll just go ahead and pull them out, hit them with red loctite and put the gall plate back in properly.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

I ordered the correct ones and received the wrong ones. Not bad that it seems to be the only screwup on a $2000 order though.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

I just got the right length flywheels bolts myself, the first ones were too long. The flywheel bolts came with yellow loctite on them already. I also forgot about the spacer and had to order it along with the flywheel to pressure plate bolts, the damn spacer is like $30 for m30.Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

Yeah, mine have the yellow goop on them, but since I'm going to take them back here in a bit, won't hurt to hit them with some red loctite.Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com
