Never just man up to the crime. Always try to find a way out of it. I would say do everything you can to get out of it. You dont need to have shit on your record for whatever reasons, It will look bad and you dont want that.

Well, if it is pretty open and closed, being clocked doing 31 over, and its written for 25 over (not reckless driving), and if you fight and lose, it'll be 31 over......just take it.

My example aside, people seem obsessed with getting out of their problems or whining about it. I'm saying if you cannot handle the consequences, think about your actions before you do them. That's what laws are about. You aren't supposed to figure out ways to get out of trouble or avoid getting caught. If you think its moral, and the laws are wrong.....you have post-convential ethics. Either do "Civil Disobedience" and continue to violate the laws you don't believe in, or lobby with your representative to change the laws. But remember part of civil disobedience is being willing to serve the punishment like a man.

Or maybe you "know" someone in the force, and have them rip up the records or delete it. Not sure if it works for tickets, but a friend's boyfriend had someone at the department destroy the file on him for stealing stuff from Walmart. Or perhaps my sister got a ticket last week, and the cop voided it the next day.....maybe head was involved, I dunno. Did you try that, getting on your knees?

challenge the accuracy of the method. maybe he counted 1 one thousand slower, so your speed was quicker (although I doubt he counts.....maybe stopwatch and then a ruler/guide thing to convert to your speed.)

but you have to ask, is there a difference in how much you broke the speed limit by? (like staggered fine amounts, or consequences? you could possibly reduce it if such)
or is this enough to get you off the ticket as a whole. If the police use the method, it is probably solid and you wouldn't be the first to challenge it. But maybe you'll get lucky.

Do the research yourself into if anyone else got off by challenging that way of catching speeders, but I would imagine it's pretty accepted. But maybe see what markers he used and find their true distance and his timing and how he got it.

its the difference between going to court, waiting hours on end for a judge to shit in ur face, 'n pay a $30 court fee + the ticket price

i chose the first option for the last few tickets... i'm considering trying the second option for future cop incidents.

'n for all u people sayin fess up 'n take it like a man.. wtf. the dude doesnt even think he's wrong.. 'n even if he did, its his right to go to court if he so desires.

the judicial system is corrupt. the cops are just looking to meet their "quota", and the local towns and schools are just trying to make revenue.. people say cops dont have "quotas" anymore.. but shit.. if they dont pass out tickets, then how does their record look at the end of the month?!? the courts are in on this too. you go to court, and the judge doesnt even want to hear what you have to say.. they don't give you the time of day unless you have a lawyer present. the special treatment lawyers get just disgusts me..

Is this a "real" ticket or just a campus ticket?? I mean, do you have to go to Wake Co. courthouse to have your case heard or is it handled by NCSU Pubic Safety?

If it's being heard at Wake Co Courthouse, you should definitely show up on your court date, the DA will usually call all the people with speeding tickets up to talk to them one at a time, and they will offer to lower the speed right off the bat- IF you agree to plead guilty. In your case, since it's 40mph in a 20mph, they'll probably offer something like 34 in a 20....... You plead guilty, pay your $$$$ and then have points on your license AND insurance points for 3 years.

If you have a clean record in NC, you might want to consider a PJC, or "Prayer for Judgement Continued", which is basically where you tell the judge that you have a good record, no tickets (this better be true, cause they can and will check it!!) for the last XX years. The judge will agree to find you guilty, you still have to pay your $$$, but you do NOT get points on your license, and AFAIK, on your insurance either. You're basically saying "I'm REALLY sorry, and I won't do it again" and they're giving you a big break. The hook is, if you get another ticket within the next 3 years, they will go back and see that you have a PJC, and add those points (that you didn't get) to your license, as well as whatever points you get for the new ticket.

Basically, if you want to use a PJC, make damn sure you drive like a nun for the next 3 years, or it will bite you in the ass.
