    e30 318i engine swap need help !!!

hiya ppl, new to the site and e30 bmws lol, basically i have a 1989 e30 318i and the engine is feelin a bit sorry for itself at 171000 miles but the rest of the car is spot on...soooooo
my future plans are to drop the 4 litre out of the 7 series into it as ive been offered the engine for next to nothing, ive already lowered it 60mm and put 325i grooved and vented discs and calipers in the front, uprated the driveshafts to 325i gear. its got 15inch compomotives on it, and 2.5inch custom built exhaust system with 4inch backbox which im gonna rebuild to fit the 4litre manifold maybe make it twin exit me thinks.
my question is.. how would i get the 4.0 litre to fit in my e30, and what work would be involved, im ok with cars and am gonna do this myself, i just need to know whether im gonna need new engine brackets, wiring bits etc,am i better gettin a manual or auto ?, if auto would i be able to put manual gbox on auto engine? any info for this conversion would be great guys, im gonna research this as much as i can b4 i do it help!!!! will keep you posted with pis etc as the conversion goes on

op - you will for sure need to do custom work for this to happen. brackets, wiring, hoses. iirc maybe even lower the front subframe in order to fit it or modify tranny tunnel? I would not deal with automatic tranny, that's just extra bs to deal with including extra wiring etc. Are you talking about doing an M60 conversion?

AKG Motorsport have done this conversion, look here:

So you've built all of these things, yet you don't know if you can bolt a manual transmission up to an engine?

Hint: 540i 6-speed cars existed. That's a manual transmission. That means that M60/M62 blocks can be mated to manual transmissions.

Like I said, you don't have basic comprehension skills, which means you probably don't have the skills to pull off this project.

If you had actually started your research you would have easily found that the 6speed 4.4L V8's existed, that was easy enough on the first page of google! You would also have known that the cover story of Performance BMW Magazine (a UK magazine) showcases a 550whp M62 built e30. You would have also discovered that the fabrication necessary to create such a car requires significant fabrication to the subframe, engine bay, and transmission tunnel. All of this can be found within the first couple pages of google.

I completely agree, there are too many little red flags throughout your posts that suggest you may have the skills to wire a few things up but something of this magnitude will require far more knowledge and skills than you portray.

Also, we use English here, not "text language" so don't expect to gain any respect by typing like you are.

mart318i - best to buy a "maxxed" Citroen Saxo and go cruising for slappers with your chav mates. That, or get your football riot on.

Ive seen all kinds of mods, big chevy v-8s in bmw's, a bmw body on a lifted toyota 4x4
with plenty of money anything is possible

just because a person cant spell or type does not mean that they cant twist wrenches, and maybe you do have the skills, so good luck

Im still kind of a newbie, but you wont win friends coming on here cusing at older established people who could help
