I am about to buy a car for myself, and found a 1984 318i 5 speed for 600$ on craigslist.
The car looks like it has been maintained well from the outside, but as for the engine condition, no specifics were given other than an engine knocking.
I called the guy advertising it and he said it just recently started knocking at 3000 rpm and that he doesn't have the money to fix it.
My question is, sound like a scam? Or should I take this opportunity to unite myself with a beautiful 2 door bimmer?
A good friend of mine and his father are both gearheads and bmw junkies so i'm going to be bringing one of them to check it out regardless.
