Unless I run across an incredibly mint '91 318is or 98-99 M3 or something.

mini cooper s models are the shit.

handling is amazing, power is great, and they have a plentyful supply of aftermarket upgrades as well, all while retaining 30+ mpg

^I think you seemed to miss the point. He'd like to drive a new-ish car with A/C AND good gas mileage.

Fuck that shit. Get an older 5 series if you want comfort, but still style, or a 1 series if you want small and comfort and BMW.

    But the yaris sucks.

Another Daily Driver Thread - E30 vs Yaris?

Edit - I'm looking to spend roughly $10K for a 2-year-old car with super-low miles. Also, I'm an old married geezer, so chick-magnet-ism-ness does not matter.
    -------------------------------------
I've been daily driving E30's for 2 years now and it's beating the hell out of me. Especially trying to keep the A/C working in 115F (Las Vegas). And my S52 ragtop gets really bad mileage. Maybe I'll mellow out after I sell 2 of my 3, and only have to maintain 1. The old car blues, if you can relate.

Anyway, I'm thinking of getting a 2007-or-so Yaris. I had an Echo which was awesome, except it was ugly, and so tall and narrow that I was afraid it would capsize when autocrossing, and it was a bit tippy in cross-winds. Having owned many, many cars, the Echo was by far the best bang for the buck of all of them. That said, the Yaris is lower, wider, longer, and has a much better suspension. Supposedly they get much better than the rated gas mileage, and THE A/C WORKS. A bit slower than the Echo with the same engine and 2200 lb curb weight instead of the Echo's 2000. Anybody have one and/or can provide any real world experience?

I'm not slamming E30's at all - nothing else drives like that. This is pretty much a new car vs old car issue.
